MEET THE

House Democrats

  • Angela Witwer

    Angela Witwer

    HD 76 | Year First Elected 2018

Angela Witwer serves as the House Appropriations Chair, a powerful position that is vital in controlling state spending - and what she claims is her former business, Edge Partnerships, has state contracts funded by your tax dollars! Quite the coincidence for Angela. At every turn, she’s been able to walk right up to the line of corruption and possibly even cross it - including hosting a baby shower in a committee chamber, of all places!

  • Nate Shannon

    Nate Shannon

    HD 58 | Year First Elected 2018

Nate loves to make changes! He repealed reading standards for 3rd graders, pushing students through the system even if teachers fail to prepare them for the future. Teacher evaluations no longer include student test scores either, thanks to Nate. The cherry on top of all this? Shannon also repealed the state school performance grades, leaving more parents and taxpayers in the dark about their children's education.

  • Joey Andrews

    Joey Andrews

    HD 38 | Year First Elected 2022

Joey hates DoorDash and Uber, (he’s working to ban gig work just like them) but he also accidentally wrote a law that would remove the penalties for coercing a child into marrying an adult. Whoops! However, it didn’t seem like an accident that his solar panel installation company could financially benefit from the bill he supported. Michiganders, just take his word for it – nothing suspicious is happening here!

  • Jaime Churches

    Jaime Churches

    HD 27 | Year First Elected 2022

Jaime is all about allies! She co-sponsored a bill (now law) that takes funding away from education and hands it out to her friends. They can pay it forward (in practically unlimited amounts) by giving it back to her campaign. Plus, she’ll use tax dollars to reimburse union dues. She’s got to keep those allies happy!

  • Betsy Coffia

    Betsy Coffia

    HD 103 | Year First Elected 2022

Betsy doesn’t like law enforcement. She even called for the abolishment of a law enforcement agency! She also has a personal vendetta against plastic bags and containers which is why she supports more taxes for plastic use! There’s no need for extra money for your family. Plastic is the real problem.

  • Jim Haadsma

    Jim Haadsma

    HD 44 | Year First Elected 2018

Jim has had a busy year covering up for, empowering, and enabling a convicted sexual abuser. Jim mediated a meeting between the victim and the abuser, former union lobbyist Jonathan Byrd, then allowed Byrd to testify in his committee afterwards. Classy Jim! Jim is now focused on banning gig-work. Goodbye Uber and DoorDash! We don’t need ya.

  • Denise Mentzer

    Denise Mentzer

    HD 61 | Year First Elected 2022

Denise co-sponsored two notable bills recently. The first bill could allow the notorious Oxford shooter to be back out on the streets in just 10 years! Many dangerous juveniles like him would be up for parole after serving only a decade of their sentence. On the lighter side, she also supported a bill to ensure her allies could contribute a nearly unlimited amount to her campaign.

  • Abraham Aiyash

    Abraham Aiyash

    HD 9 | Year First Elected 2020

Co-sponsoring a bill to help his allies give nearly unlimited funds to his campaign, Abraham gives a clear look into his priorities. Additionally, he doesn’t want local governments to have control over wind and solar projects, and definitely won’t speak on condemning Hamas - but he is happy to co-sponsor a resolution that would call for stopping aid to Israel!

  • Reggie Miller

    Reggie Miller

    HD 31 | Year First Elected 2022

Do you want wind turbines in your backyard? Tough luck if the answer is no. Thanks to Reggie, local communities no longer have the ability to control zoning for wind and solar energy, leaving it in the hands of Lansing bureaucrats. Reggie also championed the Green New Deal that will make energy less reliable and more expensive.

  • Noah Arbit

    Noah Arbit

    HD 20 | Year First Elected 2022

Noah isn’t the greatest comedian, but he tries anyway! Gotta love the effort. His alleged ‘joke’ picking on Macomb county was hard to miss, especially as he was working on hate crime legislation. He hates Macomb, and hates plastic! Noah thinks plastic bags should be taxed, why cut grocery costs for Michiganders when you can increase it because of the bags they use!

  • Matt Koleszar

    Matt Koleszar

    HD 22 | Year First Elected 2018

Disenfranchising Michigan voters is a top priority for Matt this year. He’d also like it if you paid union dues, even (especially) if you’re not in one, so he co-sponsored legislation to do just that! He’s also very concerned with homeschooling households. There needs to be a registry! Parents cannot be trusted.

  • Phil Skaggs

    Phil Skaggs

    HD 80 | Year First Elected 2022

For Phil, Lansing is a family affair. How coincidental he introduced solar panel legislation a week after his wife landed a lobbying contract with a solar company? Plastic bags are also high on the priority list - they must be taxed! The government needs more money, and so does Phil’s campaign, which is why he sponsored legislation for his allies to give him virtually unlimited funds.

  • Felicia Brabec

    Felicia Brabec

    HD 33 | Year First Elected 2020

Felicia is working hard to fight plastic. She’s sponsored legislation to charge you for plastic bags while you shop for your Bidenflation grocery list! On top of fighting plastic bags, she’s working even harder to disenfranchise voters and make sure her campaign can be fully funded by her allies. Way to go Felicia!

  • Kelly Breen

    Kelly Breen

    HD 21 | Year First Elected 2022

Do you have expensive car insurance? Kelly is making sure that cost continues to rise. She sponsored a bill to increase already expensive insurance costs! Insurers may not want to stay here after that, but it’s all part of the plan. She also wants to make sure gig-work is eliminated, with another bill set to ban independent contractors.

  • Julie Brixie

    Julie Brixie

    HD 73 | Year First Elected 2018

Julie had co-sponsored several bills this session. She’s making sure your grocery costs are up with the potential added fee for plastic bags, driving the National Popular Vote forward to disenfranchise voters, and even attempted to make sure her re-election campaign would be fully funded by her political allies with unlimited funds!

  • Erin Byrnes

    Erin Byrnes

    HD 15 | Year First Elected 2022

As House Ethics and Oversight Committee chair, Erin only held 6 meetings in 2023 and failed to move almost 20 bills. Hard at work, or hardly working? She also plans to disenfranchise Michigan voters, and keep grocery costs up with added fees for using plastic bags.

  • Brenda Carter

    Brenda Carter

    HD 53 | Year First Elected 2018

On top of banning gig-work like Uber and DoorDash, Brenda wants to reimburse union dues with Michigan tax dollars! She’s also set on disenfranchising voters and attempted to ensure her allies can give virtually unlimited contributions to her campaign. Brenda is all about the money!

  • Tyrone Carter

    Tyrone Carter

    HD 1 | Year First Elected 2018

Not a union member? Tyrone isn’t sure that means you shouldn't pay the dues for one. He wants to use tax dollars to reimburse union dues, and he wants to see those reimbursed dues again when they fund his campaign. He’s also planning to diminish the power of voters through the National Popular Vote.

  • Jennifer Conlin

    Jennifer Conlin

    HD 48 | Year First Elected 2022

Michigan’s housing crisis is at the top of Jennifer’s list. She introduced legislation that would make it easier to sue property owners! She’s certain more damage for the housing market is just what Michigan needs. She also needs every Michigander to pitch in for union dues. Teamwork, everyone!

  • Emily Dievendorf

    Emily Dievendorf

    HD 77 | Year First Elected 2022

As a self-identified extremist, Emily wants to make sure the housing market hits an all-time low. Landlords shouldn’t be using criminal background checks for renters, that’s crazy! Additionally, Emily supported legislation that would allow virtually unlimited campaign contributions from unions to pour into Democrats’ campaign coffers.

  • Kimberly Edwards

    Kimberly Edwards

    HD 12 | Year First Elected 2022

Every Michigander should be contributing to union dues, according to Kimberly, even if you’re not in one. It’s only fair. But how does she feel about gig-work? Away with DoorDash and Uber, says Kimberly! She’s also standing firm that the housing crisis should get worse, by upending the rental market.

  • Alabas Farhat

    Alabas Farhat

    HD 3 | Year First Elected 2022

Alabas believes in taxpayer-funded union dues! Your taxes will reimburse those dues, even if you’re not in a union. How’s that for socialism? He’s also looking to make the Presidential election unfair, and ban DoorDash and Uber, so gig-workers can’t make a fair living.

  • John Fitzgerald

    John Fitzgerald

    HD 83 | Year First Elected 2022

John believes children really don’t need a fully funded education. Michiganders give enough money to schools, and the COVID effects on our children’s education are all but invisible! A new law, co-sponsored by John, takes the money meant for schools and pours it directly into benefiting John’s allies!

  • Carol Glanville

    Carol Glanville

    HD 84 | Year First Elected 2022

Union bosses are all the rage for Carol. Like many of her peers, she believes union dues should be paid by the taxpayer, and not those in the union itself. Union dues for all! Children also do not need their education well-funded; instead, that money should go to making the allies Carol has acquired even richer.

  • Kristen Grant

    Kristen Grant

    HD 82 | Year First Elected 2022

The Presidential election is Kristen’s mind this year; she’s made the move to disenfranchise voters in Michigan to help ease her mind. On top of that, she’s keeping her allies happy! She supports reimbursed union dues (on the state’s dime) to gain their votes, and legislation to allow her allies to give as much money as they’d like to her campaign!

  • Jenn Hill

    Jenn Hill

    HD 109 | Year First Elected 2022

Jenn is a big fan of taxes, even those that were meant to go out of style this year! Off-roading vehicles will still have that pesky licensing fee, and it was just about to be eliminated this month! Nice catch, Jenn! She’s also really passionate about upping that grocery list cost. Plastic bags could soon come with a fee!

  • Rachel Hood

    Rachel Hood

    HD 81 | Year First Elected 2018

Taxes, taxes, and more taxes. Rachel loves taxes! Architectural paint for property improvement? Taxed! Union dues for a union you’re not a part of? Reimbursed with, you guessed it, tax dollars! A brilliant solution for already rising costs. Need extra money to help buff your income? It’ll be harder with the potential ban on gig-work!

  • Kara Hope

    Kara Hope

    HD 74 | Year First Elected 2018

Kara is all over the place! She wants convicted, dangerous juveniles to be up for parole after serving just ten years of their sentence. As is, this bill could mean the Oxford shooter would be back on the streets! She’s still hoping to get re-elected despite this, so she’s supporting reimbursing union dues (paid for by taxpayers) and hoping to get the payback to her campaign for her allies. Sneaky stuff, Kara!

  • Jason Hoskins

    Jason Hoskins

    HD 18 | Year First Elected 2022

On top of trying to make the Presidential election completely unfair here in Michigan, Jason has co-sponsored the legislation to make things harder. Legislation all for his benefit, as virtually unlimited funds could come from his political allies for his campaign.

  • Tullio Liberati

    Tullio Liberati

    HD 2 | Year First Elected 2022

Tullio loves to spend money! The most recent budget was $82 billion of Michigan tax dollars, with $1 billion funding pet projects. Splash pads are certainly more important than education, which he pulled money from to fund his allies. He hoped that funding would go right back into his campaign with a bill originally intended to allow his allies to give near-unlimited donations to his campaign.

  • Sharon MacDonell

    Sharon MacDonell

    HD 56 | Year First Elected 2022

She isn’t too concerned with the environment either, as she supports eliminating the environmental rules review committee.

  • Jasper R. Martus

    Jasper R. Martus

    HD 69 | Year First Elected 2022

A future for our children? Nah, Jasper isn’t too worried about Michigan kids. He voted to take away money meant for education to give to his political allies instead. They needed it much more than the kids who’ve suffered from the COVID era. He’s also ensuring the future will be unaffordable by sponsoring legislation that will drive energy costs up and out of this world!

  • Mike McFall

    Mike McFall

    HD 8 | Year First Elected 2022

Mike voted with every other Democrat to increase your energy bills by $2,700 a year!! Donovan knows that times are hard; that’s why he’s doing the most for Michigan families amidst inflation! When you pay for your groceries, he wants to add another fee for plastic bags. Wait, not helpful? He’s not concerned with your opinion, which is why he’s dead-set on disenfranchising Michigan voters!

  • Jason Morgan

    Jason Morgan

    HD 23 | Year First Elected 2022

Jason loves taxing Michiganders, even when grocery prices are at an all-time high. More fees at the cash register are what Michigan families truly need. Plus, as an added bonus: tax dollars meant to educate our children are now in the hands of Jason’s political allies, a brave change for the betterment of Michigan.

  • Christine Morse

    Christine Morse

    HD 40 | Year First Elected 2020

Christine is working her way into getting re-elected. Can you rig the system? Because she can! By reimbursing union dues with Michigan tax dollars, union bosses and members will feel the love, and be more likely to contribute to her campaign. In addition, those contributions have next to no limit, thanks to a bill Christine co-sponsored.

  • Cynthia Neeley

    Cynthia Neeley

    HD 70 | Year First Elected 20

Winner of the Most Complex Bill Award! Cynthia was the lone sponsor of a bill, now law, that creates a complex food tax with arbitrary distinctions on what can be taxed. Get that money, Cynthia!

  • Amos O’Neal

    Amos O’Neal

    HD 94 | Year First Elected 2020

Amos isn’t too concerned with the safety of Michiganders. He introduced legislation that could give dangerous, convicted juveniles a chance at parole after just ten years! Veronica Paiz

    HD 11 | Year First Elected 2022

How does $82 billion sound? Veronica thinks it’s an exciting number since she voted to spend that much of Michigan’s tax dollars in the budget. Disenfranchising voters for the Presidential election.

  • Natalie Price

    Natalie Price
